BATMAN V SUPERMAN TRAILER 2
Well DC has FINALLY released the second Batman V Superman Trailer and it's completely BADASS! Chock full of action and we finally get to see Wonder Woman in action. Also we finally see the motivation for their battle against each other. We see the climatic battle between Zor-El and Superman from the 1st battle but from Bruce Wayne's point of view.
DC is still light years behind Marvel, but with this trailer, the anticipation grows and hopefully Zack Snyder doesn't make Batman suck. A word of advice, just look at the fluidity of Batman's fighting style in Batman: Arkham Knight. That's what the fans want. Just my opinion though. What do you think of the trailer. Let me know.
BATMAN V SUPERMAN TRAILER SNEAKS ONLINE!
Okay the trailer is online! What do you think? I'll give my opinion soon!
UPDATE!
Sorry for the confusion! I "acquired" the trailer and youtube shut it down. Zack Snyder and the folks at DC released the REAL trailer for all to see so here is the official HD quality trailer of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!
My review:
I think the trailer does exactly what it was supposed to do - let people know DC is still here and this is a small tidbit of what's coming. That's all well and good. However, I still think it's definitely not enough.
First, there was nothing visually compelling that we've never seen before. Let me explain. Yeah, the Batman uniform looks cool and it's a fanboy's wet dream. A couple of shots of Superman doing his thing, with some people fearing him, labeling him a false god. Others cheer him as a savior. All cool, but so what? As a fan I want to see something unique with this movie and it's characters. Honestly, the last movie that visually blew my mind was the Matrix. The last movie I saw that had awesome fight sequences was the Raid and the Raid 2. Even Marvel's Daredevil (please catch it on Netflix) has some great fight scenes. Now, if you guys see the aforementioned movies you have to think to yourself - why haven't they portrayed Batman like this? It sucks to say, but the Raid movies were low budget compared to Marvel or DC movies, and it completely destroys all of their fight choreography. I know DC is going to copy, but dammit, it better be done greatly! Batman is supposed to be the world's greatest detective and master of ALL fighting arts. I want to see Batman literally break opponents arms and legs when he fights. If Gareth Evans can do it with minimal budget, than Zack Snyder better bring that pain like Method Man.
So my conclusion is: The trailer was - eh, okay. Good design for the Batman suit but it is irrelevant until we see him in action. By the way - where was Wonder Woman?
Justice League: Throne of Atlantis
Trailer for Justice League: Throne Of Atlantis
DC has released the next in line from their animated series revolving the main characters from the Justice League following the New 52 revamp of its heroes. Of course as the title suggests it centers on the origins of Aquaman and how he fits into the new DC universe.
Now I'm going to be quick and brief about this and break this into sections without spoiling any of the movie for you.
Visuals:
I am an artist at heart. In high school, I would live and breath comic, not just the stories but down to each artist, inker and colorist. The visuals are beautifully crafted following the action style of the great Jim Lee (one of my favorite artist of all time and in my top ten greatest comic artist of all time.) However, if you are a fan of Ninja Scroll, you'll see a good symbiosis of that anime style. Their are great fighting scenes that literally had my eyes popping out. (Even some bloody ones which were awesome!)
Story:
This was better than average. Not only did it bring me up to speed on Aquaman's origin, but it also had good backstories revolving Cyborg, Superman and Wonder Woman. The pacing was right on point and kept me watching the whole way through. I had one thing on my mind throughout the movie though - can Zack Snyder make Batman v Superman just as good as this or better? Everyone loves a great story, but usually Hollywood tries to hard to give us an emotional story which drives the character. That's what good movie making is about right? Wrong. In this case, I and probably thousands of others want to see out of this world action with the story sprinkled in-between. Just imagine the last 20 mins of Avatar stretched out to about two hours. Anyway, enough of my opinions. The main point is if you are a fan of Anime and Super Heroes, not only see this movie, but add it to your collection, and Mr. Synder if you've watched it I hope you took thorough notes.
